  • On August 17th, 2023, Bússola Tech orchestrated the second out of four pivotal dialogues between key representatives from the Cámara de Diputados of Chile, and representatives from the parliamentary community, specifically NovaWorks Australia. The core objective of this session was to delve into the role and impact of Artificial Intelligence in parliamentary processes and governance.

    Mr. Jonathan Ruckert, CEO from NovaWorks Australia, Mr. Miguel Landeros, the Secretary-General, and Mr. Esteban Sanchez, Chief of Technological Operations from the Cámara de Diputados of Chile participated in this discussion, moderated by Mr. Luís Kimaid from Bússola Tech, bringing their unique perspectives to the forefront. The meeting also had the honour to welcome colleagues from the Cámara de Diputados of Chile, Mr. Dieter Laage and Mrs. Virginia Carmona.

    Mr. Ruckert began by underscoring the myriad technologies available for artificial intelligence and their potential to reshape parliamentary procedures. He stressed the importance of collaborative dialogue in this domain and highlighted the need for ethical guidelines when deploying AI.

    Shifting the focus to the Cámara de Diputados of Chile, Mr. Landeros spoke of their strategic shift towards a digital, paperless environment. He elaborated on the innovative tools and platforms adopted by the Cámara de Diputados of Chile, emphasising their transformative role in ensuring transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in legislative activities.

    Mr. Esteban Sanchez offered insights into the complexities of AI models, emphasising the significance of using diverse data inputs to achieve reliable and all-encompassing outcomes. He accentuated the importance of gathering varied viewpoints when training these models, ensuring their reliability and inclusivity.

    Concluding the discussion, the panellists underscored the transformative potential of AI in legislative contexts. The session illuminated the path forward, highlighting how Artificial Intelligence, when deployed judiciously, can greatly enhance efficiency, transparency, and inclusivity in parliamentary functions.
