  • Bússola Tech organised a significant panel discussion titled "Artificial Intelligence Applied to the Legislative" on April 27th, 2022.

     

     

    This session convened a distinguished group of participants from diverse legislative and technological backgrounds to discuss the integration and application of artificial intelligence (AI) within parliamentary operations. The panel featured key figures such as Dr. Fotis Fitsilis from the Parliament of Greece, Mr. Jonathan Ruckert from NovaWorks Australia, Mrs. Robin Treistman from the Knesset in Israel, Mr. Alisson Bruno de Queiroz from the Brazilian Senate, and Mr. Ludovic Delepine, from the EU Parliament. The moderation of the panel was under Mr. Luís Kimaid from Bússola Tech.

     

     

    The discussion opened with Mr. Ludovic Delepine giving an in-depth presentation about their AI project at the EU Parliament. Following this, each participant was allotted time for their presentations and subsequent discussions.

     

     

    The session's focus was on the transformative influence of AI across multiple sectors, particularly in the legislative domain. Topics included AI in document summarization, topic modelling, document classification, and enhancing public accessibility and user experience in legislative archives. The discussion also covered the role of data governance in parliaments for AI adoption, the importance of digital inclusivity, and AI's potential in preserving democratic integrity and enabling multilingual accessibility.

     

     

    In conclusion the discussion emphasised the vital role of AI in managing the complexities of modern legislative processes and its potential to enhance legislative operations while preserving democratic values and integrity.
